Bluetooth Definition

Bluetooth is a specification for the use of low power radio communications to wireless phones, computers, and other network wireless devices overshort distances.  The name Bluetooth is actually borrowed from Harald Bluetooth, a Denmark king more than 1,000 years ago.

The technology of Bluetooth was primarily designed to support simple wireless networking of devices and peripherals, which includes cell phones, PDAs,and wireless headsets.  The wireless signals that are transmitted by Bluetooth cover short distances of up to 30 feet, generally communicating less than 1 MPps (Mega Byte per second). The networks of Bluetooth feature dynamic topology called PAN or a piconet.  The piconets contain a minumum of two and a maximum of eight peer devices. The devices will communicate using protocols that are part of the specification.

Even though the Bluetooth standard will utilize the same 2.4 GHz range as 802.11b and 802.11g,the technology isn’t suitable for a Wi-Fi replacement.  When compared to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth is much slower, limited in range, and actually supports less devices.

For short range devices, Bluetooth is rapidly becoming the best.  The technology is more popular with cell phones, as Bluetooth headsets are the way to go these days.  To use Bluetooth, your cell phone will need to have it enabled, or an infared device somewhere on the phone.

Upcoming devices are utilizing Bluetooth as well, such as PS3 and the Nintendo Revolution.  The wireless controllers will be Bluetooth enabled, which will give players the cutting edge.

If you own a cell phone or other wireless device, you should look into Bluetooth.  The technology is nothing short of spectacular, making it something that will be around for years and years to come.  As technology gets bigger and bigger, you can expect Bluetooth to advance as well.

400GB optical disk

Pioneer Corporation is the one responsible in creating this high capacity optical disk and making our lives easier. It is claimed that this optical disk is the first of its kind in the world.

This optical disk has a staggering 400GB storage capacity with it’s 16 layers. Each layer is said to have a capacity of 25Gb which is the same as that of a Blu-ray disk.

Pioneer claims that since the technology employed for the use of Blu-ray discs and this 16 layer optical disk is similar, it is possible to maintain compatibility between the both of them. Maybe we might be able to access this optical disk with the Blu-ray players.

However, this 400Gb optical disk is currently on a read-only feature. Hopefully they will create a re-writeable version of this cool disk.  For more info: Pioneer

Innovation has gone far beyond imagination. Even watches are now bluetooth enabled to remotely control the mobile phones. Look at this bluetooth watch from Sony Ericsson. Surprisingly, this cool watch was introduced in 2006 and I had no notice of it until recently.

There are three editions of these watches from Sony Ericsson. They are the executive edition, music edition and the classic edition.

The cool features of this watch is it vibrates whenever there is call or when there is a text or picture message received. It even vibrates whenever your phone is out of the bluetooth range.Besides that this watch has a caller ID to inform you who is calling.Furthermore, you can control your music on your phone remotely through the watch itself.

These amazing features makes this watch a must get, however it is quite expensive and can only be used with certain compatible phone models. For more info visit sonyericsson.com

Spy Camera sunglasses captures what you see.

I thought only mobile devices were being innovated lately, but, I’m sure to be wrong. Even sunglasses are facing innovation in this decade. Embedding a camera, MP3 player and remote control operation have brought the usage of sunglasses to a new level.

This innovation surely helps spying, however, if it falls in the wrong hands, there is a great chance for abuse. “With great powers comes great responsibilities” So, those who use these sunglasses must use them in the right manner.

Anyway, these sunglasses are available on online stores such as Thinkgeek.com. It costs around $99.99 USD. It is even available at lelong.com.my. Check it out if you are interested. It was around RM252.00 when I checked today.
